Meet Trustee Robert

My charitable work over the years is what brought me to West Sussex Mind as a trustee. I was a trustee for the Corner House in Southwick and I spent the best part of my career working for the National River Authority. This led me to work with the charity, WaterAid, which works to make clean water accessible to all.

I worked with them for around 30 years and was their head of fundraising within the Environment Agency. I also have a finance background, having previously worked for Lloyds Bank. I am therefore able to bring my fundraising and finance experience and expertise to the role of trustee as well as my understanding of charitable work.

My own experience with mental health has shown me how easy it can be to suffer in silence. People need directed help when it comes to mental ill-health and West Sussex Mind can help to provide that. In addition, with the right tools and skills, people can help themselves and their loved ones through tough times. We can provide those skills which allow people the freedom and opportunity to help themselves, in combination with directed and personal support. Mental health is complex so people must be aware that help is available.
