Peer Volunteer for our community outreach in the Adur district

We're looking for someone to work with the Adur Peer Community Outreach and Development worker to identify and support individuals to access services that can help improve their well-being

The project aims to reach people within Adur (Shoreham, Southwick, Lancing, Sompting) who:

  • do not know what help is available and/or
  • may not recognise they could benefit from support around mental health
  • do not see existing mental health services as being services that are there for them
  • or cannot get to where mental health support is currently being offered.

Skills: applicants need to have their own lived experience of mental illness. Applicants need to have good communication skills, to have an understanding of boundaries and to be able to work within the bounds of confidentiality. We are looking for people who are reliable, motivated, friendly, and approachable. Some confidence in using the phone and IT would be desirable.

Location: The project is based in Adur and the role will involve travelling to different areas within the district.

Hours: We are looking for those who have availability preferably during the following days/times: Tuesdays, Wednesday mornings or Thursdays. The number of hours needed can vary and will depend on the needs of the project.

Please see below for the role profile.
