Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Families in Mind team to support the mental health and well-being of parents of young children. This role will be working in partnership with Dad La Soul (Tackling Social Isolation for Dads - Dad La Soul) whose aim is to support male carers. You will be attending their established monthly Saturday playdates and Thursday evening meet ups to engage with male carers around their mental health and support them to access services. If you have your own personal experience of caring for a child alongside managing difficulties with your own mental health, we would love to hear from you. This might include personal experience or supporting a partner through post-natal mental health issues, using mental health services and an understanding of mental health recovery.
The successful candidate will:
- Attend Families in Mind and Dad La Soul groups to engage with male carers and support attendance to/from either organisation.
- Support the provision of face to face or video conference structured group sessions to parents around mental health and well-being.
- Facilitate and develop the giving and receiving of peer support.
- Contribute to the achievement of parent's goals and be an active member of the staff team.
Dad La Soul groups take place monthly on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings. Families in Mind groups run during school hours Tuesday – Thursday with monthly team meetings on a Tuesday or Thursday. There is an expectation that the worker will introduce further weekend events collaborating with other local organisations to support improved well-being as well as attending some existing groups. We encourage all applicants and would welcome applications from male carers such as dads, stepdads, or grandads. Flexibility around how the hours worked through the month is vital to successfully delivering this new role and developing relationships across the team.
