Overview:

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and resilient peer support worker to help us deliver our drop-in crisis café in central Worthing.

We have a new vacancy to join our dedicated Staying Well team who provide a safe and welcoming service for people who are struggling to cope when other mental health services are not available. The service is open 5pm-10.30pm on weekdays and 12 noon–10.30pm at weekends and individuals are able to “drop in” for support within these hours. The service operates 365 days a year.

The successful candidate will work with a small team of Mental Health and Peer Support Workers, along with an NHS Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner, to offer support to people who feel that they have reached breaking point with their mental health.

At Staying Well, our Peer Support Workers use their own lived experience of having mental health problems and using mental health services to support service users in their recovery journey. This includes offering a listening ear and empathy as well as in-the-moment interventions which enable individuals to manage their emotional distress. In addition, the team can offer structured support to empower individuals to recognise their current strengths, to develop self-care and coping strategies or to signpost people to other local organisations who may be able to help.

Join us and in return we will offer regular supervision, training, progression opportunities, employee assistance and a generous leave allowance.
