Could you make a difference to local parents? West Sussex Mind are looking for a peer support worker for our successful Families in Mind service which operates in Adur, Worthing and Arun. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and passionate team supporting local parents of young children.

Salary: £9.50 per hour

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Location: mainly based across Worthing and Adur

Fixed Term Contract - up to 12 months

We are looking for individuals with personal experience of caring for children alongside managing difficulties with their own mental health. This might include personal experience of post-natal mental health issues, using mental health services and an understanding of mental health recovery.

As a peer support worker, you will support the parental mental health workers to deliver face-to-face and virtual group sessions to support the positive mental health and well-being of parents. You will facilitate and develop the giving and receiving of peer support both to and between parents through groups and social media. You will also undertake a range of administrative tasks as required and be an active member of the staff team.

There are currently groups offered on a Monday – Thursday and the role could be delivered in school hours. We would be interested to receive applications from individuals able to work some hours on an evening or a weekend as we look to expand the service offer.

The successful candidate will need to be able to travel to sites across the whole area.
