Social Activities Peer Support Worker/Coach (Fixed Term Contract for 9 months)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Support Worker/Coach to join our Social Activities team to plan and deliver physical activity groups in Littlehampton - Walking Football, Table tennis and Walking or Walking to run groups.

Salary: £20,611.50 (full-time equivalent) £10.57 per hour

Hours per week: 18hrs per week / Fixed Term for 9 months

Location: Maltravers Drive, Littlehampton, BN17 5EY

West Sussex Mind is a local mental health charity committed to promoting mental well-being in local communities and supporting the recovery and independence of individuals we help.

Successful applicants will play a vital role in setting up groups, coaching service users and volunteers and establishing ways to support and motivate people to join up and encouraging ongoing participation. The successful candidate will also carry out support planning with service users to set goals and review progress made against them.

As well as having some experience of working with people with mental health problems, post-holders will need to have experience in coaching others in sports or physical activities and demonstrate that they can plan groups within organisational policies - particularly around health and safety. They will also show that they value lived experience and reflect this in the ethos of the groups and use their own experience of Mental Health appropriately to inspire and motivate others.
