Course summary

  • Three-hour course
  • For anyone in the emergency services who has a line manager, team leader or pastoral role.

Course content

Six main areas to be covered:

  • improved awareness and understanding of mental health at work
  • how work can affect emergency services staff and volunteers.
  • the signs of mental ill health, how to broach the issue and explore support measures
  • Mind’s framework for creating mentally healthy workplaces and how to create a mentally healthy workplace using Mind’s three-pronged approach
  • how to proactively manage employees’ mental well-being so as to reduce mental ill health and its associated risks for absence
  • how to initiate a conversation about mental health and how to handle disclosure.
