Minds Matter Event concert raises over £1,000 for West Sussex Mind

May 2025

On Saturday 12 April Minds Matter hosted their third annual music concert which featured performances from great local musicians and speakers talking about the importance of mental health awareness and support

Just over 60 people attended the Nostalgia Nights event, which featured covers of popular classic songs from the 1960s to the present.

Held at the Shoreham Centre the event was organised by Courtney from both our Social Activities and Fundraising team and her friend Neil Magguinness. The night was a great success and raised valuable funds for the support of local people’s mental health.

Neil said of the event “This is my third-year co-hosting Minds Matter Event and it’s been so rewarding to see the show grow from strength to strength. It’s a privilege to be a part of these events that have consistently raised significant amounts of money for such an important cause, and are always so much fun for everyone involved, attendees and staff alike!”

Music on the night was performed by great local artists, such as Ten Bag Sounds System, Liv and Neil Mathews.

Neil Mathews said of the event: “It was a pleasure to be part of the charity show that we put together. The team were amazing. It was quite a show, and a lot of people turned up. It is an amazing charity, and I am going to continue to raise awareness and money for West Sussex Mind where I can. Thank you all so much, it was a brilliant experience.”

Money was primarily raised through ticket sales, but also raised through a raffle on the night. In total the event raised over £1,000 for West Sussex Mind, which will help us to support more adults and young people in West Sussex.

Courtney said her favourite moment of the night was "...being able to see all the audience dance and enjoy themselves whilst the artists were playing - it's one thing putting a show on but to have your audience involved and enjoying the event too is incredible."

Co-hosts Courtney and Neil are looking forward to next years event and have already started brainstorming some ideas for the future.

Courtney and Neil wanted to say: "Thank you to everyone involved which includes all the artists, and everyone who helps me with Minds Matter Event, they are not only incredible friends but just some of the most incredible people we know. We also want to thank Paul from Present Entertainment for the lighting as we wouldn't have had a show without his incredible set up and thank you to Courtney's mum who came down to support the show and run the raffle"

Here at West Sussex Mind we would also like to say a big thank you to Courtney and Neil- as well as everyone else involved in organising and holding the event- and to all the amazing musicians who performed at the concert.
