Parents and carers supporting young people

We have a wide range of free training to develop your knowledge and confidence to support a young person with their mental health

"The best thing was learning how to give young people the skills to control stress and manage situations"

If you are worried about a child or young person who is struggling with their mental health, our training can help increase your knowledge and confidence to support them more effectively.

We know that young people face many challenges and pressures around their mental health and it can be difficult to know how best to support them. Our training offers helpful starting points and resources, while highlighting the importance of looking after your own wellbeing at the same time.

We provide three main types of learning opportunities for parents and carers:

  • Live expert-led workshops on a variety of topics, such as depression, emotionally based school avoidance, self-harm and anxiety. These are online
  • Webinars and animations on specific topics for parents and carers
  • Free e-learning courses that you can complete in your own time. Topics include eating disorder awareness, self-harm and understanding behaviours.

All of these are free to parents and carers who live or work in West Sussex.
