Mental health support for the Ukrainian community

If you have recently arrived in West Sussex from Ukraine and need help with your mental health, we can support you - and we can assist with translation. We also offer advice if you are hosting a Ukrainian refugee and think they might benefit from our services

Meet Vladyslava, our Ukrainian mental health community outreach and development worker (above). Vladyslava arrived in the UK recently after fleeing the war in Ukraine and is working with us to help fellow Ukrainians get the support they need.

We want to ensure that if you or your family are struggling with your mental health, you can get support with us. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to ask for help.

Call Help Point on 0300 303 5652 to find out more about our services or email

If you would like help to access our support, including language assistance, contact Vladyslava on 07494 055440 or email

What we offer

West Sussex Mind offers a range of support to help you with your mental health. This includes help for parents and carers with young children, for 16-25 year olds, and for parents and carers. See below links to leaflets about our services, translated into Ukrainian.

Free mental health training

We understand that some people may struggle to recognise if they need support with their mental health. So we offer free mental health awareness training to help you understand what mental health is and why it’s important; common mental health conditions; how to recognise if someone is having problems with their mental health; and where to get help. We have translated this free training into Ukrainian for you.

Module 1 - Mental Health Awareness Ukrainian/ Обізнаність про ментальне здоров'я

Module 2 - Common Mental Health Conditions Ukrainian/ Поширені стани ментального здоров'я

Module 3 - Emotional resilience and sources of support Ukrainian/ Емоційна стійкість та ресурси підтримки

How to get involved

We are looking for volunteer Ukrainian speakers to help us reach out to Ukrainian communities across West Sussex – and to make sure that everyone knows about our support. We need volunteers to help us connect with Ukrainian communities, spread the word about our support and help us organise support groups.

If you have a few hours a month to spare, we can train you to raise awareness about our work and about mental health generally. See the volunteer role description below.
