Funding boost for our Ukrainian support

February 2023

We are delighted to have been awarded £5,000 by Sussex Community Foundation for our vital Ukrainian support

Many Ukrainian refugees who have recently arrived in the UK are likely to be experiencing trauma and mental health problems as a result of their experience. This is where our Ukrainian service steps in. We support both refugees and those hosting them.

Our Ukrainian mental health community outreach and development worker, Vlada, who recently arrived from Ukraine herself, said West Sussex Mind was grateful for the funding from Sussex Community Foundation to continue this important and much-needed work.

I came here when the war started and I felt isolated and depressed. West Sussex Mind helped me start integrating into the community. I met lots of new people. As a former journalist, I always pay attention to people and can say without hesitation that everybody is much happier and more relaxed after West Sussex Mind support. The sessions are not just important, but life-saving
