What's on in Mental Health Awareness Week 2025?

This year's theme is community, and the importance of connection, for our mental health. We're getting out into our communities to spread the word about our support and encourage connection through events and activities. Here's what we have planned

We’re celebrating community!

We’ve got a great line-up of community events for Mental Health Awareness Week (12 to 18 May), shining a light on the support we provide across West Sussex and helping people look after their wellbeing and connect with each other. Some of these events are open to the public and some of them are for people getting support with us.

Here’s a rundown of our activities throughout the week.

Monday 12 May

Creative writing workshop at West Sussex Mind, 23 Maltravers Drive, Littlehampton, BN17 5EY. 2.30-4pm. Open to service users only. This writing workshop will be delivered by a local published author. Email Socialactivities@westsussexmind.org to express your interest.

Tuesday 13 May

Launch of new peer support group in Henfield. The Post House Café, Clarence House, High Street, Henfield, BN5 9DA. 3-4pm. Open to service users only. This will be an ongoing group on every second Tuesday of the month.

Wednesday 14 May

Lunchtime wellbeing drop-in for students at West Durrington Campus, Northbrook College. 12-2pm. Open to college students only.

Stall at Worthing Market, Montague Street. 9am to 4pm. Open to the public. Come and see us and find out about our support.

Stall at Tesco Holmbush. Join us at the Holmbush Centre, Upper Shoreham Rd, Shoreham-by-Sea BN43 6TD from 11am and find out about our work. Times to be confirmed. Open to the public.

We're also inviting businesses and schools to Wear It Blue for mental health during Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW). Here's the team at David Lloyd Wickwoods wearing it blue for us during last year's MHAW!

Five ways to wellbeing session at the Wellbeing Café, Lancing Parish Hall, 96 South St, Lancing BN15 8AJ. 10-11.30am. Open to service users only.

UKHarvest presence at Adur Community Centre, Southwick Community Centre, 24 Southwick Street, Southwick, Brighton BN42 4TE. 10-11am. Open to the public.

Afternoon tea at Merriman Grange luxury care home. Merriman Grange Care Home, 102 Warren Rd, Worthing, West Sussex, Worthing, BN14 9QX. 1.30-4pm. Have a lovely a glass of Prosecco, coffee and tea, sandwiches and cake in aid of West Sussex Mind. Tickets cost £45. Open to the public. Sign up below.

Seated physical activity session. 3.45-4.45pm. With Rise Life. Open to service users only. West Sussex Mind, Gateway, 8-10 Durrington Lane, Worthing BN13 2QG. Email Socialactivities@westsussexmind.org to express your interest.

Thursday 15 May

'Tuning into your senses' sensory walk at RSPB Pulborough Brooks with Men Walk Talk. Pulborough Brooks, Wiggonholt, Pulborough, West Sussex, RH20 2EL. 10am-12pm. Open to the public.

UKHarvest presence at Sidney Walter Centre, Sussex Rd, Worthing BN11 1DS. 10-11am. Open to the public.

Beach clean on Littlehampton Beach, as part of the Millions Miles Clean initiative with Surfers Against Sewage. 1-2pm. We will be working with our service users, staff and volunteers at the beach clean. Email Socialactivities@westsussexmind.org if you get support with us and would like to come along. This is a public event, so members of the public can turn up. Meet outside the Coastguard Station on the beach at 1pm.

Information and wellbeing stand. The Grange Community and Leisure Centre, Bepton Rd, GU29 9HD, Midhurst. 2-4pm. Open to the public.

Art workshop with local artist Jo Dowers for over-65s. Samuel Wickens Centre, Rustington, BN16 2NW. 2.30-4.30pm. Prebooking is essential. Call 07495 077341 or 07932 784979.

Saturday 17 May

Presence at Find Out Fair, Chesham House, 124 South Street, Lancing BN15 8AJ. 10am to 2pm. Open to the public.

Fundraising car boot sale. Broadwater Green, Broadwater Street West, Worthing, BN14 9DJ. 8am-12 noon. Open to the public.
