Become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®)

You can be equipped to help people with this internationally-recognised and accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course

Would you like to be better able to support friends, family and colleagues?

Our online or face-to-face Adult Mental Health First Aid courses are internationally recognised and accredited by Mental Health First Aid England. Half, one and two-day courses are available.

On all courses you will:

  • develop practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • gain confidence to reassure and support a person in distress
  • learn how to guide them to further support for recovery
  • find out how to provide help on a first aid basis
  • learn how to help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
  • discover how to help stop a mental health issue from getting worse
  • learn how to help someone recover faster
  • find out how to guide someone towards the right support
  • reduce the stigma of mental health issues.

The sessions are a mix of presentations, group interaction and activities. Our instructors provide a safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain parts, there is no pressure to do so.

Please contact training@westsussexmind.org to book a place on a course. We can also put together bespoke courses for organisations and workplaces.
