'Get Together' Group Facilitators - Worthing

An exciting opportunity to work with our social activities team in delivering face to face support for our Service Users to build confidence and connection in Worthing.

This role involves supporting our Social Activities team to develop and deliver one of our groups to our Service Users to improve their mental wellbeing.

Group Description - The groups are designed to increase the confidence of Service Users in their communication with others, an opportunity to share what they have learnt about managing your own mental health and to get out of their homes and engage with others. Get Togethers are relaxed, positive and social.

THERE ARE 2 ROLES AVAILABLE in different locations and at different times


What's involved:

ROLE 1

Volunteering at ‘The Annex’, Guildcare, Methold House, North St, Worthing BN11 1DU

For 2-3 hours per week on Thursdays 10-12.30pm


ROLE 2

Volunteering at ‘The Gateway’, 8-10 Durrington Lane, Worthing BN13 2QG

For 2-3 hours per week on Mondays 1 - 3.30pm

Key Tasks:

  • Support people who use our service to take part in the group, connecting and conversing, where able.
  • To listen to the conversations, actively acknowledge good coping strategies, developing a proactive curiosity about their own mental health.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for Service Users, ensuring refreshments are available.
  • Implement the Group Agreement and challenge Service Users when there are breaches.
  • Celebrate the skills of the group and help us to signpost attendees to local clubs to improve their confidence in social skills

What we ask for:

  • That you are practical, caring, considerate of others, empathetic and patient.
  • That you are a confident communicator with good listening and facilitating skills.
  • Have an enthusiasm for working with people, enabling them to achieve personal goals and are committed to being part of the service on a regular basis.

Understanding or lived experience of mental health needs desirable, this is not essential for the role

We provide all of our volunteers with appropriate training, induction and information for their role. Regular check-ins are offered with the service team and ongoing training and development opportunities are available.

Because the role involves working closely with vulnerable people, we need to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
