What is Wear It Blue?

Wear it Blue is a great opportunity for businesses, education providers and local people in the community to show their support for mental health, increase awareness and raise funds to help us deliver mental health support to those in need.

Why support West Sussex Mind?

As an independent local charity we have seen a huge increase in demand for mental health support locally, particularly since the pandemic and in the wake of the ongoing cost of living crisis. Our charity has grown to meet this ever-increasing demand, but we would like to help even more people in West Sussex - and fundraised income plays a large role in helping us achieve this.

This year's Mental Health Awareness Week theme:

The theme of Mental Health Awareness Week this year is movement: moving more for our mental health.

Being active is crucial for our mental health, try and include movement into Wear It Blue. Why not go for a walk with people at your place of work or education.

How to participate in Wear It Blue:

There are a wide variety of ways you can participate in Wear It Blue:

  • At your workplace arrange a wear something blue day. Wear a blue jumper or T-shirt. You could even go the extra mile and wear blue-themed wigs, hats, ties, scarves, make-up and more
  • At your school or college, organise a wear it blue non-uniform day while raising awareness about mental health and our important work. We suggest a £2 donation for each child or young person taking part (to share the amount between West Sussex Mind and your school or college) - and we can provide primary school resources around mental health for use in your setting
  • Organise a blue-themed event, such as a quiz
  • Have a blue-themed bake sale, bake some blueberry muffins or blue-iced cupcakes and share them in your school or workplace
  • As a business you can demonstrate your commitment to your local community and good mental health by making a donation
  • Share your blue-themed photos on social media! #WearItBlueforWSM and tag us in your post.

How can businesses get involved?

Wear It Blue is a great opportunity for local businesses to raise awareness of mental health at their place of work, demonstrate their commitment to the mental well-being of the local community, and also a great way to implement a team-building day. Look at the examples above for some great ways to participate in Wear It Blue.

Our fundraising team can also provide businesses participating with items to help them fundraise, such as collection tins and buckets, branded T-shirts, leaflets and more. Please contact fundraising@westsussexmind.org for assistance.
