Are you passionate about children and young people’s mental health? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Rural North Chichester area.

Hours: Part-time - 22.5 hours per week (to be worked across 3 days ideally)

Salary: £17,210.70 per annum

Contract: Fixed term contract to 31st March 25 with potential to extend

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days per year rising to 27 days after 2 years

Overview:

Could you make a difference to local children and young people? GP practices want to improve mental health support available to children and young people by working in partnership with West Sussex Mind to deliver this role. You will split your time across two surgeries and have the support of a large team of colleagues working with children, young people and their parents and carers across West Sussex. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have relevant mental health work experience, experience working with children and young people, and ideally a relevant qualification (perhaps as a counsellor, teacher, social worker, nurse, PWP, youth worker, family, housing or advice worker).
  • Develop and provide recovery focused support to children aged 11-17 years old to problem solve and self-manage their mental health.
  • Work with children and young people who are referred into the service via the surgery to identify what they need and help them to work on these issues, through support planning using a goal focused approach.
  • Take a holistic and flexible approach with individuals supporting around both social and psychological issues that arise including managing risks.
  • Have an awareness of local support that is available to young people and their families, such as Early Help, YES and other young person services.

Applicants must have a full UK driving licence and an independent means of transport to fulfil the role covering the rural Chichester area and working with the wider team (mileage will be paid for travel beyond agreed base).
