Become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®)

You can be equipped to help people with this internationally-recognised and accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course

Would you like to be better able to support friends, family and colleagues?

MHFA offers an internationally recognised course designed especially for those people that teach, work, volunteer, live with or care for people over 18 years of age.

Participants learn how to provide information, tools and techniques to promote a person's mental and emotional wellbeing, and to support a person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

The aims of MHFA training are to enable participants to:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
  • Work more effectively with people living with mental health issues
  • Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
  • Support people with a mental health issue and relate to their experience

The sessions are a mix of presentations, group interaction and activities. Our instructors provide a safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain parts, there is no pressure to do so.

This course can be delivered in person, over two full days, or online over 4 sessions.
