Managing in a neurodiverse workplace

Learn how to manage your neurodiverse workforce

It is estimated that 1 in 7 people in the UK, nearly 15%, are neurodiverse, and actually 50% of these people may not even know they are neurodiverse. So most organisations already have a neurodiverse workforce, and you may even be neurodivergent yourself.

All people’s brains are different - “It’s normal to be different”. This essential workshop will explore the Autistic experience in the workplace and enable neurotypical and neurodiverse managers to better support and manage a neurodiverse workforce. This workshop focuses on the main difficulties associated with ND (social communication, emotions, executive functioning and sensory) as well as barriers in the workplace and strategies to help.

You will gain an understanding of:

  • What neurodiversity is.
  • What neurodiversity may look like in the workforce.
  • How the work environment may impact an individual.
  • How to support those with a different ability and create an inclusive environment.
  • Neurodiversity and employment.

At the end of the session the learner will be able to:

  • Explain common difficulties and barriers, and reasonable adjustments and strategies.
  • Explain the strengths of neurodiverse individuals in the workplace.
  • Describe how to create an inclusive environment.
