Supporting men’s mental health in the workplace

On average, a UK employee will spend nearly 90,000 hours at work throughout their lifetime, equating to about a third of their working-age years. As an employer, you have the chance to make a difference – and we can help you.

When it comes to men's mental health, it's evident that there are critical issues that require attention. In 2023, men accounted for 80% of suicides in England, with the highest risk among those aged 44-49. According to MIND's 2019 report, "Get it off your chest: Men’s mental health 10 years on," 43% of surveyed men confessed to frequently feeling worried or down. Additionally, nearly two-thirds of individuals engaging in hazardous drinking are men, with many preferring to drink alone. New fathers facing perinatal mental health challenges are 47 times more likely to die by suicide during this period than at any other time in their lives. In the construction sector, men are 3.7 times more likely to die by suicide than the national average. Furthermore, the 2024 Workplace Health Report reveals that over one in three men experience unhelpful stress at work.

By providing attendees with the knowledge to understand and have supportive conversations about men’s mental health, this course will give participants the ability to develop strategies that create a supportive environment for male colleagues in their workplace.

The course explains the pressures that typically affect men in the workplace so that participants can identify personal triggers, practise techniques that will support their own wellbeing, and understand how to support male colleagues facing difficult situations.

This 1-hour course can be delivered in person or online.
